About the event
Thank you in advance for your donation to The Geremiah Lofton Advocacy Scholarship. Each year, we select incoming and current students to receive this scholarship. Scholarship funds are generously donated by alumni, family, and friends of the University and awarded to students. The number of scholarships awarded varies from year to year.
On January 22, 2024 Geremiah “Buddy Lee” Lofton departed this earth and joined the rank of ancestors. Geremiah was a graduate of Huston- Tillotson University class of 2018, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, and a member of the NAACP.
While in college, Geremiah ran cross country and track and field and was named Red River All-Conference in the long jump and triple jump. Geremiah was a W.E.B. DuBois Honors Scholar, a Hatton W. Sumners Scholar, and an HTs 1st rep to HBCU White House Initiative on Advancing Equity, Excellence and Economic Opportunity under the President Trump administration while at Huston-Tillotson. Geremiah moved to Washington , DC where he completed his masters in Public Administration from George Washington University while interning with Senator Bennie G Thompson of Mississippi. He then served in the following roles, Recruitment & Policy Intern; Dept of State Diplomatic Security Service, Intern; Subcommittee Clerk of the House Committee on Homeland Security, Special Assistant & Brief book Coordinator; Secretary of the Dept of Homeland Security & Policy Advisor, National Security Council for the White House (Biden Harris Administration).
